Wells Park Practice
LGBT Foundation Pride in Practice
This practice has been awarded GOLD for excellence in gay, bisexual and trans healthcare.
Pride in Practice is a quality assurance and social prescribing programme that supports us in strengthening our relationships with our lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) patients. Our practice have received the Gold Pride in Practice Award from the LGBT Foundation. We continue to work to meet the needs of our LGBT patients, support them to access services and ensure all our team have a good awareness of their specific healthcare needs.
We have undertaken training for our staff so they could gain a better understanding of the barriers faced by LGBT communities in accessing services and why there is a higher prevalence of inequalities in health outcomes. We want to ensure our team know how to support LGBT patients at the practice by developing inclusive practices and patient-centred care.
Our Equality and Diversity policy is reviewed and updated on a yearly basis and practice staff undertake equality and diversity as part of their mandatory training at least every 3 years.
